Acupuncture
The American Veterinary Medical Association considers acupuncture a valid modality within the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery. Acupuncture, a treatment used with animals for over 3000 years, is the insertion of small sterile needles into specific points of the body to cause a desired effect. It stimulates the central nervous system which causes alterations in the body’s biochemicals and physiological properties, thus affecting all the organs of the body.
The results of acupuncture treatment may include a decrease in needed medication dosage, improved immune function resulting in increased resistance to bacterial and viral infections and increased overall vitality and energy. It can relieve pain and alleviate symptoms of many conditions.
